Events we time
If people cross a line, we can time it
The same RFID kit that times Hyrox-style races handles fun runs, trail races, motocross, mountain bike laps, triathlon transitions and school cross-country. One system, set up for your event's format.

What we time
How it works for any event
Every event is a set of timing lines: a start, a finish, and whatever sits between them, such as checkpoints, lap lines, stage starts and finishes, or transition entries and exits.
- Each participant gets a numbered chip, matched to their entry at check-in.
- Each timing line gets a floor mat or side aerials, wired to a reader.
- Every crossing is recorded and sent to the timing software.
- The software turns crossings into results using your event's rules, live as people finish.
Race formats we handle
- Start to finish: fun runs, road races, time trials.
- Laps: every lap counted and timed, as in motocross, cross-country MTB, track and loop courses.
- Time limited: the most laps in a set time, such as 2-hour enduros or 24-hour relays.
- Stages: separate timed stages added together, as in MTB enduro.
- Runs and stations: Hyrox-style courses with zone in and zone out.
- Legs and transitions: triathlon and multisport.
- Waves, heats, teams and relays, with categories and age groups.
Where chip timing fits best
RFID chip timing is ideal when you have many people to time, results to publish quickly, and splits or laps to track. It's how most running, multisport and fitness events in New Zealand are timed.
It isn't the right tool on its own when places come down to hundredths of a second, such as a sprint finish or a downhill podium. Use a photo-finish or beam system for the deciding line, and we can work alongside it. Chips also aren't read underwater, so swims are timed from the start to the swim exit.
One kit, any event
Hire a kit for one event, or buy one if you run events often. Every kit includes the readers, mats and aerials, numbered reusable chips, the timing software and the live results portal, with remote support on race day or an on-site technician.
FAQ
Questions
Can you time events other than fitness races?
Yes. Split Line times any event where participants cross a timing line: running races, motocross and dirt bike laps, mountain bike and cycling events, triathlon and multisport, school cross-country, and fitness racing.
Is the timing equipment different for each sport?
The core kit is the same: readers, floor mats, side aerials and numbered RFID chips. What changes is where the timing lines go, how the chip is worn, and the rules the software uses to turn crossings into results.
Do you work outside New Zealand?
We're based in New Zealand and send kits nationwide. For events in Australia, get in touch about freight and support.
